Volunteer Leads/Captains Sign-Ups

We are looking for people to volunteer for various positions for the 2024-2025 school year. Some of the positions for next school year require advance planning during the summer.

Please consider stepping up to make all of the initiatives happen. If we don’t have volunteers, we won’t be able to hold all of these planned programs.

Popsicles on the Playground Captain

Organize the event the Sunday before the first day of school. August commitment needed.

Membership Chair

Organize membership drive and compile the membership list needed to pay national, state and local organizational dues. Organize the online directory.

Booster 2024

Works with the VP of fundraising as co-lead of the Booster powered Fun Run. May-October commitment. Availability during school day during the 10 days of the event in September is helpful but not required.

After School Programs

Work with the VP of Education & Community Outreach to organize the after school programs at each school.

Spirit Wear Captain

Plan and lead the sale of spirit wear.
This is a position that requires summer time duties.

Monthly Staff Appreciation Captains

Plan, organize and execute monthly staff appreciation days at the schools. Availability to deliver items to the school during the school day once/month is needed.

Copying Flyers

This position requires availability during school hours to copy PTA flyers for distribution in take-home flyers. Copying is completed at Kings Glen.

Ice Cream Social/Community Resources Fair Captain

Organize the event in September 2024 that provides a family night outside at Kings Glen. Invite and organize community providers of after school and extracurricular activities. Plan and purchase the ice cream portion of the event.

Reading Initiatives Captain

Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual reading initiative at Kings Park and Kings Glen. Program outlook is determined by fundraising and school and board support.

Social Media Communication

Post events, information, reminders on Facebook and Twitter.

Kings Park Yearbook Committee

Design and build the Kings Park yearbook using the online platform. Some computer experience a plus but not required.

Spirit Night Captain

Schedules monthly Spirit Nights to benefit PTA through local resturants and businesses

Baskets & Bingo Captain

Coordinate the annual basket raffle with online & in-person components components. Work with the VP of Fundraising and experienced Basket & Bingo Coordinators to learn the ins & outs of the event. This event will take place in March 2025 at LBSS.

Donation Drives Lead

Organize, advertise and execute various donation drives for community organizations throughout the year.

Care to Share Lead

Organize collection and volunteers for the Care to Share program at each school.

Summer Camp Fair

We are looking for a lead to be in charge of this event to feature vendors offering summer camps. This event will take place in January 2025.

Family Fun Night

Plan and execute a night of family fun with exercise and multicultural activities. Tentatively scheduled for February 2025.

Glow Dance Captain

The first Glow Dance was held in early February 2023. This event is for Kings Glen students (4th, 5th, & 6th graders) and will be held at the school. We are looking for someone to continue the tradition in March 2025.

Earth Day Night Captain

The Earth Day Night will be held at Kings Park in April 2024. The event brings together local resources on environmental awareness, local wildlife, local parks and more. The Kings Glen garden also plays a central role in this event.

Staff Appreciation Week Captains

Organize the weeklong activities to show appreciation to staffs at both schools. Including planning daily appreciation (breakfasts, lunch, snacks, notes, etc.) to the staffs as well as providing families with options for showing appreciation to the staff. Planning should begin in February. Staff Appreciation Week is usually celebrated the first week in May (May 4-9, 2025).

Kickball Game Captain

Plan and execute the kickball game between Kings Park and Kings Glen. This event is typically planned for mid May.

School Supply Kit Captain

Organize the school supply kit sale including gathering supply lists from schools and working with company to execute sale and delivery. This requires commitment in late March/April to review the lists and set up the website, and in August to help with the delivery.

Audit Committee

Complete the required yearly audit of the PTA accounts following the close of the fiscal year on June 30th. This position requires availability in July for 2-4 hours only.
